Latest from Upcycled Treasures Co: Our First Workshops Are Complete!
It’s been a little while since our last update — and so much has happened here at Upcycled Treasures Co.
We’ve now officially hosted our first two in-person upcycling workshops in our Hullbridge, Essex studio, and we couldn’t be happier with how they went! Both sessions were filled with creativity, laughter, and plenty of tea (and Prosecco, of course).
In our Sip & Upcycle Workshop, one of our lovely attendees brought along four drawers from a desk she plans to refinish at home. Together, we went through how to prep, paint, and choose new hardware — she decided to keep the original drawer knobs as a sweet memento of the desk’s original design.
Although we didn’t manage to complete the piece on the day (thanks to paint drying time!), we finished it off for her afterwards, and she’s collecting it today. She left the session feeling confident and inspired to complete the rest of her desk using her new skills.
Then came our 1:1 Upcycling Masterclass, where our client brought a wooden chair that needed to be completely stripped back to bare wood. Over five hands-on hours, we covered every stage — from safe stripping and sanding techniques to preparing the surface for a professional finish.
As the piece needed a little extra stripper applied, we didn’t quite finish it on the day — but our customer left feeling confident and excited to continue at home. We’ve since sent her a full list of the products used and a step-by-step guide so she can carry on with the project in her own space.
We always like to remind our workshop attendees that the goal isn’t always to finish the full piece on the day — it’s to learn where and how to start, gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to continue the process at home, and understand the best techniques to achieve professional results.
The feedback we’ve received from both sessions has been amazing — it’s been so rewarding to see how much our customers have learned and how inspired they are to keep upcycling at home.
If you’ve ever wanted to give upcycling a go but don’t know where to start, we also have a Beginner’s Guide to Upcycling available on our website for just £2.99 — click here to get your copy. It’s the perfect way to learn the basics and build your confidence before joining one of our workshops.
We’re already busy planning our next Sip & Upcycle dates and 1:1 Masterclasses, so keep an eye on our social media and website for updates.
As always, thank you for supporting our small, family-run business. It means the world to us to share our passion for upcycling and help others fall in love with the process too.
